Q&A With The Cast! Hello all! We're almost officially ONE WEEK to showtime and it's all happening here at D&G HQ! Join us for an exclusive, fun Q&A session with our lovely Cast and Crew! Our tickets are on sale at  https://www.eventbrite.ie/d/ireland--galway/diarmuid-and-grainne/   Interviewer: What is the one item you think Aonghus would definitely have on a desert island? Just one, now! (Julie) Aonghus: A bobby pin or a carrier pigeon! Interviewer: You’re a stage manager. That sounds very rewarding but also a little stressful! Tell me about some of the highs and lows of the role. (Grainne Sheehan) Stage Manager: Well, I have been very lucky to be working with such a fantastic set of people for my first stint as stage manager. I suppose the lows are the typical lows, we have a room full of college students who are still college students so there has been some energy dips, some missing props but that’s all in a day. I am a highly organ

Piseógs, Pursuit and Petrol Stations: Eight Life Lessons from Diarmuid & Gráinne

Welcome back to your one-stop shop for everything related to our favourite duo! This week’s post reflects on our beloved script, and, while we’ve thoroughly enjoyed bringing this wonderfully fictitious work to life, we couldn’t help but accidentally learn some valuable life lessons on the way! Being the good friends that we are, we wanted to share these nuggets of knowledge with you! 1.      You will probably look like an animal when you give birth (hey, we don’t make the rules!). During the rehearsal process, it emerged quite quickly that labour is tough, and that all sense of decency or dignity is no more. To any mothers reading, please skip the queue in coffee shops. You’ve earned it. We don’t mind. Really. 2.      Always put enough petrol in your car. Okay, this one is probably a given, but have you ever just “thrown a tenner’s worth in” and hoped for the best? Take it from our main man Diarmuid, you don’t need the hassle of driving from pillar to post in search of fue

All Together Now! Enacting the Ensemble in Diarmuid and Gráinne.

Welcome back, everyone! Is week seven really upon us? This week we’re exploring the ensemble and how, without it, we would be staging a radically different Diarmuid and Gráinne to its current manifesto. You may be thinking, “wait, what is this ensemble thing anyway?”, and we know it can be confusing to give it a concrete definition, which is why we have some definitions from the professionals to clear things up, but here’s one of our favourites!             The ensemble conjures the image of a group of people who share experiences, breathe and feel together. And we’re confident that this is an apt way of describing our own ensemble here at D&G HQ! Sound simple? Not quite. The finished product of an ensemble can appear so exquisitely polished and perfect, but Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was our talented ensemble. The group spent weeks of team-building warm ups before even one step of choreography commenced. This was to ensure that the team were complet

Seven Deadly Secrets: The Cast's Experience

Welcome back, fanatics of all things D&G! We’re halfway through week six and are already buzzing with excitement for opening night! Regarding the rehearsal process, our cast members are really getting to know their characters and the traits and personalities that come with them. We have also had a chance to think about what we love about Diarmuid and Gráinne and what we really want to amplify in the production. We asked eight members of cast and crew to tell us what they have learned and experienced by taking part in this production. Here’s what they told us! “I love that we can display our current surroundings and raise awareness of topical issues while still offering the audience a slice of comedic value and an insight into a cultural myth without letting it get lost in the archives” – Shannon, Production Blogger “I always knew my heart belongs to theatre but this show has helped me learn where I excel and what I want to pursue after college. I loved this
